The Science of super-absorbed tea

The white chemical added to the tea here is Sodium Polyacrylate. It is a "super absorber" that can absorb about 300 times its own mass in water!

It is used in a lot of products including detergents and nappies.

Tea is not required for this demonstration, but no butler would dream of serving just water if tea was available
